International Raw Energy

Following its success in the very first IDFB back in 2008, this year we welcome the return of youth dance extravaganza International Raw Energy.

IDFB 2012 in partnership with sampad South Asian arts have created two new youth companies made up of young dancers from across the West Midlands. These groups are developing new pieces to be performed in the grand surroundings of Birmingham’s Town Hall:

• A contemporary company working with Anh Ngoc Nguyen (previously a dancer/choreographer with Wayne McGregor l Random Dance)

• With Birmingham Ormiston Academy (BOA) – A Bollywood company working with Delhi-based Sadhya Dance Company.

The evening’s programme will also include exciting performances of existing work by some of the best dancers and youth dance companies in the region:

Centre for Advanced Training – Kathak strand // Chitraleka Dance Academy // DanceXchange & Walsall College young performers and choreographers // Flexus Youth Dance Company

There will also be the opportunity to see a new piece inspired by the themes behind our epic outdoor production Wings of Desire, choreographed by Dave McKenna (Director, BeingFrank Physical Theatre).
