Double Bill: Children & A Few Minutes of Lock

Louise Lecavalier is an icon of contemporary dance the world over. As Édouard Lock’s muse in La La La Human Steps, she is arguably as identified with the company’s energetic, acrobatic and athletic style as Lock himself.

In this double bill, Louise revisits a number of duets from her time with Lock (A Few Minutes of Lock), alongside Children by UK choreographer Nigel Charnock, exploring a relationship at breaking point.

Performed together with Patrick Lamothe, Children is a playful take on the heaven and hell of a couple trying to stay together for themselves and for their children. At times alone, at times united, they search for each other, embrace, tussle, joyfully let themselves go, clash, resist each other, lose each other.

Set to the music of Iggy Pop, A Few Minutes of Lock is a conversation between bodies – intimate, fraternal, passionate. Spurred by the challenge, and by the desire to find out ‘what the body remembers’, Lecavalier plunges back into former accomplice Édouard Lock’s extreme, incandescent style of dance, joined by La La La’s former dancer Keir Knight.
