Class with Ahmed Khemis
Ahmed Khemis
Archived
This is part of our Outspoken weekend of new performance from Arab artists, curated by Eckhard Thiemann.
Ahmed Khemis (Algeria/Tunisia/France) is an outstanding dancer of his generation. Originally trained in Tunis and completing his training in France, Ahmed Khemis has since danced with Salia Ni Seydou, Montalvo Hervieu, Odile Duboc and George Monboye. He was also recently invited by Akram Khan to take part in a two-week creative project.
Ahmed’s approach is characterised by high physicality and deep emotional bond to his cultural roots. The class will offer a physical warm up, teaching of material from his autobiographical solo Voyages des Poussières and creative exploration of this material.
This class is suitable for professional dancers, dance teachers, and degree-level dance students.
Our IDFB Outspoken Weekend is one of the outstanding projects granted the London 2012 Inspire mark, the badge of the London 2012 Inspire programme which recognises exceptional and innovative projects inspired by the 2012 Games. Find out more about the Inspire Mark here.
