This breathtaking programme includes the world premiere of Lyric Pieces by American choreographer Jessica Lang – a joint commission by International Dance Festival Birmingham 2012 and Birmingham Royal Ballet.
Known for ‘incorporating striking design elements’ (Dance Europe) within her work, former Twyla Tharp dancer Jessica Lang choreographs widely in the USA and around the world. This special commission will be set to music by Edvard Grieg.
Take Five is Director David Bintley’s most recent jazz creation. Set to the iconic music of the legendary Dave Brubeck, this light-hearted, laid-back, elegant ballet takes life calmly in its stride.
Completing the bill with another world premiere, company dancer Kit Holder has created a new one-act, character driven ballet 9-5, developed from his smash drum n’ bass work Printer Jam.
