Experience Brazilian beats first-hand as mac birmingham hosts a weekend of fun packed activities, performances and open classes culminating in its very own Carnival Parade.

Now in its 4th year, the International Capoeira Festival will be taking place 23-25 May 2014, as part of International Dance Festival Birmingham (IDFB) 2014. Curated and managed by Professor Mascote, and the capoeira group, Cordão De Ouro Birmingham, CDOB is part of IDFB 2014.

From Samba, to live percussion, acrobatics, beginner’s Capoeira, traditional Brazilian dance such as Forro and special classes for kids too, there is something for everyone to try. Tickets available for individual classes, day events or for the whole festival.

Capoeira is a spectacular Afro-Brazilian art-form, performed to live percussion, where dance meets martial arts and includes elements of trickery and acrobatics.

The festival features top Brazilian Capoeira artists, including the celebrated Mestre Suassuna, who has not visited the UK for 10 years.

Don't miss the free family Sunday Carnival which includes face painting and craft workshops for children in the foyer of mac birmingham. Join in the party by following the drumming parade outside; grab a bite to eat at one of the Street Food Stalls en route and then watch one of the spectacular Brazilian themed outdoor performances and join in the Parade.
