Connecting and entertaining audiences, nurturing and championing artists

Connecting and entertaining audiences with great dance, nurturing young dancers and championing some of the UK’s best artistic talent.

BIDF has played a pivotal role in the growth and development of dance in the Midlands, the UK and internationally, support us to continue this work.

Dance can transform the way we see the world. It can inspire, entertain and empower. Dance can enliven our cities,
raise aspirations and bring people together across cultural divides. At times like these we need dance more than ever.

Since the first festival in 2008, Birmingham International Dance Festival has played a pivotal role in the growth and development of dance in the Midlands, the UK and internationally, connecting people with great dance, nurturing young dancers and championing some of the UK’s best artistic talent. We’re passionate about dance and we want everyone to enjoy the positive transformations it creates.

Due to the current Coronavirus (COVID -19) crisis we had to cancel our planned festival for 2020.  Our highest priority is the safety and security of our audiences, participants & employees and in taking this action we were following government, NHS & Public Health England guidance.

However, we are thrilled to be able to announce our all-digital june festival BIDF TV 3-13 June, with a vibrant and exciting online dance programme which will be announced shortly.  We hope to return to the outdoors this September with a live – socially distant – outdoor programme including local touring, youth engagement and co-productions.

We also hope to present an autumn outdoor festival back on the streets of Birmingham.
