The theatre programme featured performances by The Kirov Ballet, Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan, Robyn Orlin, Emio Greco | PC, Rosie Kay Dance Company, Malavika Sarukkai, Nahid Siddiqui and Aracaladanza alongside a brand new production from Akram Khan and National Ballet of China.
One of Japan’s most celebrated choreographers, Saburo Teshigawara, collaborated with IDFB to create a special installation and performance version of his Glass – Fragments of Time work to huge public and critical acclaim.
And, in the outdoor spaces of the city, Luca Silvestrini created a performance in shop windows whilst Hofesh Shechter Company and 2Faced Dance Company collaborated in Watch This Space, a spectacular event which combined contemporary dance, bboys, free-runners, live drummers and exploding cars.
Bringing this spectacular first festival to a close, hundreds of salsa fans took to the streets for Salsa at Sunset.
